Switch Rods have been commercially defined as a fly rod that can be cast with one or two hands. I don't ever recommend this as a practical way to cast. The added length and weight of these rods makes it harder to stop the natural inertia created. To me a Switch Rod is a short two hand fly rod. It is the next progression from a longer single hand rod in the range of casting and mending ability.
The PRO Series of Switch Rods are designed as high power Two Hand Overhead, Skagit or Switch Line Spey Casting Style rods. They are best used when casting tight to our body in strong bottom pull fulcrum style. The entire purpose is their ability to cover medium size water quickly and efficiently. What you will feel from these rods will have you understanding why. Searching for Striped Bass, large trout and steelhead simply becomes easier and far less tiresome through a long day of casting..
